Welcome to 2022!

The beginning of each new year is special. Twenty, twenty-two holds additional meaning as I celebrate five years as a published author.

It’s been an incredible journey since Hawkeyes’ great Chuck Long and I partnered on the authorship of his biography “Destined for Greatness.” It was published in 2017 followed by “You Are Destined for Greatness – Stories of Inspiration and Empowerment” in 2019.

The highlight of the journey by far has been countless new friendships made and relationships enriched from speaking engagements and book signings (more than 300 completed with a couple dozen already on the schedule this year). The wisdom and insights shared by those I’ve had the privilege to meet along the journey have challenged, humbled, and encouraged me. Best of all, they’re relevant, practical, relatable, and actionable. Long story short: they’re too good not to share!

So, welcome to 2022 and the “4-Word Refresh!” This simple and straightforward message of encouragement will help jumpstart our week. Each “4-Word Refresh” will be gleaned from my conversations with notable and inspirational leaders and personal experiences. Along the way, I encourage you to chime in and offer your four words of wisdom and encouragement (I’ll be sure to incorporate them throughout the year!).

I can’t think of a better way to begin 2022 than with “Let There be Peace.” In a world that’s far too fractured and stressed, let’s resolve to lead with empathy, understanding and a reassurance that good always triumphs evil, warm hearts always overwhelm cold hearts, that de escalating conflict is always advantageous and to see the best in each other.
