About Aaron: Raised on a farm near West Bend, Iowa, Aaron took to writing and public speaking at an early age (he was always the first to volunteer to share stories with the class as a youngster, authored his first book at age 9 and addressed a full session of the Iowa House as a high school junior — the topic was the importance of maintaining funding for small schools!).

He attended the University of Northern Iowa where he received degrees in communications, public relations and journalism. While at UNI, Aaron served as Executive Editor of the Northern Iowan and Vice President of the Northern Iowa Student Government.

It’s been said that if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life. Aaron is living proof! He’s combined his admiration and respect for farmers, love of rural communities, passion for agriculture and skills in writing and public speaking to serve as an agricultural communicator and leader for almost three decades.

Upon earning his degree from UNI, Aaron served as copy editor at Spokesman Press, Inc. Grundy Center, Iowa, before joining the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation communications team in West Des Moines in 1994.

In 2010, Aaron joined the Iowa Soybean Association team in Ankeny, currently serving as Chief Officer of Brand Management & Engagement. He’s a member of the Waukee Rotary, St. Francis of Assisi (West Des Moines) Knights of Columbus and volunteer groundskeeper for the Walnut Creek Recreational Baseball League of Clive/Waukee.

Let’s connect!
As an accomplished speaker and someone passionate about leadership and success, Aaron has delivered hundreds of presentations to organizations and groups of all sizes and occasions throughout the Midwest and beyond! From personal experiences, observations made during international travel and one-on-one conversations with dozens of notable Iowans (including university presidents, Fortune 500 CEOs, record-setting athletes and coaches and executive directors of nationally respected associations), Aaron delights crowds small and large and on a variety of topics!

Combining relevant stories, stunning visuals, humor appropriate for all ages and audience participation, Aaron weaves together fun, engaging and memorable entertainment perfect and appropriate for all audiences and event formats — from small-group professional development workshops (1-3 hours or 1-2 days) to banquet keynotes (30-60 minutes)!

Aaron does not belong to a speakers’ bureau; therefore, he’s very competitively priced, makes contacts personally, manages his own schedule and tailors remarks for every audience (no cookie-cutter presentations allowed!).

Testimonials

"Thank you so much, Aaron, for helping to make this year's Fall Focus Conference a resounding success with your keynote address! Our attendees appreciated your down-to-Earth leadership insights and your 'always room for improvement' mindset. Thanks again for agreeing to speak!"
Matt Diamond, VP, Communications and Member Services, PowerSouth Energy Cooperative (October 2024)

“I was fortunate to attend the Iowa Bankers Association Next Gen Conference. Even more fortunate, I was able to see your presentation. I was not expecting Taylor Swift references (especially to her as a human versus the popstar) and a relatable story about your family trip to the Grand Canyon. Your presentation reminded me that it’s okay, even beneficial, to want to form connections with the people I work with – colleagues and customers. Sometimes it can feel like work is not the time or place to make these bonds. However, I’ve always believed in one of the quotes you used, ‘People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel.’ Your entire presentation was a rejuvenating reminder to me that getting to know people (not just their business), seeing different perspectives, and acting like a human instead of just a cog in the machine – well, there’s always room for that in the workplace. I could go on and on about how much I got out of listening to you but I really just want to say thank you. So, thank you, Aaron!”
Nicole Thacker, West Bank
(August 2024)

“We want to thank you for your presentation at our National Association of Benefits and Insurance Providers Conference! You engaged our audience towards the end of a long day, and that’s no easy task! I received great feedback from attendees about your session. Happy to refer you for other events!”

"Thank you for the amazing keynote you gave at today's Iowa Society of Association Executives annual meeting. It was truly the best presentation I've listened to! I left with so many key take -aways and things to think about. I plan to reflect and complete the ‘My 5-Star Leadership Plan’ activity. I've made it my priority to improve my positivity mindset and ability to view things from other perspectives. I have many new things to think about now after your presentation and I can’t wait to read your book!"
Mallory Iverson, VP Member Engagement & Communications, Iowa Parks & Recreation Association (April 2024)

“As a leader, I could really identify with being a ‘work in progress.’ In the end, the relationships you build make all the difference. Creating the habit of utilizing daily affirmations to meet people where they are is a game changer. Aaron operationalizes this practice. You’ll be a better leader after engaging with him.”
Susan Seehase, COO, Iowa Association of Community Providers (April 2024)

“Aaron was a very engaging and thought-provoking keynote. He captured the attention of a large audience with his message and visuals, all while encouraging audience participation.  Attendees reported thinking differently about their professional relationships and felt challenged to consider what others might be experiencing under the surface.”

We’ve had many great leadership speakers from around the country present to our staff. Aaron may be the most influential presenter we’ve had the privilege to learn from. His art of storytelling encourages participants to elevate their game in terms of the dedication, commitment, and compassion shown to those whom we serve in our midst. “I wanted to end our Midwest Dairy Association leadership program on a high note and have our farmers feeling motivated and inspired as they left our meeting. Aaron came to mind right away for my vision. He went above and beyond to customize his presentation for our group, and he was great to work with leading up to the training. Not only did he provide a stellar presentation, but he took time to connect with our farmers before, during, and after his presentation. The added personal touches made a huge difference, and I look forward to working with Aaron again in the future.”
Jenna Finch, Agriculture Affairs Manager, Midwest Dairy Association

His presentation on relationships in leadership was relevant, engaging, and fun and his energy, passion and positivity fill the room, making it an ideal learning environment. I’ve sat through many presentations on leadership and when I saw Aaron’s message I was impressed and knew I had to get him to come present to our members. In addition to the half-day workshop he led, he also gave a great keynote on gratitude to our graduating Leadership North Iowa class. I highly recommend Aaron to anyone looking for a speaker who can relate to your audience – he tailors his presentation to your needs and does an all-around fantastic job!”

“Aaron’s keynote of the Iowa Biodiesel Board annual meeting was exceptional. He provided insight, creative ideas and motivation attendees can carry with them into their professional and personal relationships. During his keynote speech, I found myself thinking of times when I could apply his techniques to my own life and provide encouragement to others, especially my adult children. This is in addition to the lessons shared in his leadership book, which also provide motivation to strive for my own success. It truly was a great experience and many meeting attendees commented to me how much they enjoyed his presentation!”

“I’ve had the pleasure of hearing Aaron speak to groups of all sizes. He’s an extremely articulate, engaging and captivating speaker. Aaron understands audiences and delivers powerful messages that resonate with professionals at all levels of their careers. Recently, he was a keynote speaker at Central Iowa PRSA’s annual conference in Des Moines and was one of our top-rated speakers. I’ve read Aaron’s books and they are motivating and packed with practical information for succeeding in life – personally and professionally!”
Ann Foster Thelen, President, Thelen Public Relations (March 2020)

“When seeking guest speakers for our programs at the ABI Foundation, we look for knowledgeable Iowa leaders who can engage our participants of all ages in thought-provoking content and spirited discussion. Aaron’s unique ability to do just that and more has brought him back to our programs for eight years now, and he continues to receive rave reviews from each group. Whether he’s providing insight into the world of agriculture through captivating story-telling and research or inspiring the audience with lessons learned in leadership, Aaron always delivers a dynamic and meaningful message filled with takeaways for our participants.”
Jessi McQuerrey, Program Director, Iowa Association of Business and Industry Foundation (January 2020)

“You gave a great program, the kind you don't get very often at Rotary Club meetings. Your message really resonated with me, and our entire group, because everyone at the meeting is a community leader of some kind. I will be happy to recommend you to others. I'll be looking for an opportunity for us to work together again!”
Don Luensmann, Rotary Club of Denison, Iowa

“A note of thanks for a great day yesterday with my students. I've seen about half of the kids that were present yesterday, and they spoke so favorably about the experience. And believe me, they are a tough crowd! They liked learning about agriculture (and what you were stoked about) and then seeing the connection to life lessons. All commented on your sense of joy and the ease you had in presenting. And yes, the Grand Canyon story should be a keeper in all presentations! I know you are nowhere near being ready to retire, but you definitely have a second career as a motivational speaker. :) Again...so appreciate you generously sharing your time with us.”
Karen Downing, Language Arts & Extended Learning, WDM Valley High School

“We had Aaron Putze speak to our customers, suppliers and vendor partners as part of our customer appreciation event. We gave him the difficult task of weaving in themes around renewable fuels, trade issues and the Iowa State Fair. Aaron took time ahead of the presentation to understand our audience and customize his remarks so they would be spot on with the audience. He engaged the crowd with wonderful stories, comedy at just the right time, and insight from both his industry work as well as his book “You Are Destined For Greatness.” He tied in how the lessons from the book applied to our industry and could motivate our actions for the year ahead. Attendees remarked following our event that Aaron’s speech was a highlight of the event for them.”
Troy Shoen, Sr. Manager of Marketing, Renewable Energy Group

“Thank you again for speaking at the PRSA conference. It always amazes me how those outside of the agriculture industry are so disconnected from the farm. I think your session provided insight on the struggle of agricultural communications to PR pros who work with non-ag clients. Your advocating for the industry is definitely appreciated.”
Rachel Lium, Content Developer, Two Rivers Marketing

“Thank you very much for making time to speak to Leadership Iowa in Ottumwa. You are not only entertaining, but also deliver a great message. I meant it when I said you were ‘back by popular demand.’ Your support of Leadership Iowa is much appreciated!”
Kay Snyder, Executive Director (past) Iowa Area Development Group

“The New Hampton FFA and the New Hampton School District sincerely appreciate Aaron Putze scheduling an educational presentation to the New Hampton High School Student Body. There were over 350 students and adults in the gymnasium that he captivated for 30 minutes. He brought a moving, motivational and educational topic to the students that all of us think very little about until after his presentation. I think eating a meal will have a different thought process for many students for a long time.”
James Russ, New Hampton Agricultural Education Instructor and Sarah Updegraff, New Hampton High School Principal
